As an alternative radio station we have a real connection to the Valley community, and one way we connect with the community is through our Community Outreach program. In addition to this Community Calendar we broadcast a half-hour public affairs show at 6am each Sunday. If you have a non-profit or charitable event that you would like posted on our Community Calendar please e-mail at bcarbajal@rbgphx.com.

June 14th and 15th
Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption to support their work in finding adoptive homes for America’s children in foster care

On June 14 and 15, participating Wendy’s across the country will donate 50-cents for every Frosty product sold to the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption to support their work in finding adoptive homes for America’s children in foster care. We hope families will bring dad to lunch at Wendy’s to enjoy a Frosty. It’s a fun, easy way to celebrate Father’s Day while making a difference in the lives of others. We’re trying to help the thousands of children in the U.S. foster care system that are eligible for adoption and waiting for forever parents.

Saturday, June 14th, 2008 :: 6am - 4pm

Allen Shellenberger, 38 year-old drummer for Orange County rock band Lit, has been diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor. Lit made an initial announcement over their website on May 5th that a brain tumor had been discovered and the band was canceling their European tour dates with KISS. Biopsy results identified Shellenberger’s cancer as malignant glioma. According to the National Cancer Institute, malignant glioma affects approximately 10,000 Americans per year. It is the same type of cancer Senator Edward M. Kennedy is battling. Allen’s symptoms prior to diagnosis included numbness and tingling in the left side of his body.
