2nd Annual 4 Peaks Clean-Up Feb 7th, 2009
Time:
9am-3pm
HELP NEEDED Last year, this event had 300+ volunteers and hauled away 7.5 TONS of garbage just from the lower trails in the 4 Peaks area. This garbage included a burnt FJ Cruiser, Washer and Dryers (too many to mention), shooting targets, shotgun shells/casing and other, not to be mentioned items. Channel 12 was kind enough to give us some media coverage last year that helped generate even more volunteers and we hope that the media channels throughout the Phoenix area will be willing to spread the word about this upcoming event to help keep the 4 Peaks Off-road area as well as other AZ trails open. This event is completely funded out of the pockets of everyday people who enjoy the outdoors. This is not a government/county event. Last year’s volunteers were comprised of 4X4 off-road clubs, mountain bike clubs, running clubs etc.
Here is the information from last year’s event including before and after pictures and an aerial shot taken at base camp: http://www.fourpeakspickup.blogspot.com
Donations: Any donations in the form of work gloves, shovels, plastic garbage bags would be greatly appreciated. Any monetary donations will be divided between the non-profit organizations: Disabled Explorers and KarmaRacer.org Please contact Tim Huber (main organizer) at 480-262-6258 or timothy_huber@hotmail.com for an interview or more complete information.
